ABOUT KATIE

IMG_1919.jpeg

Hello! I'm Katie Burke! I have been drawing ever since I could hold a Crayola marker, and knew that I wanted to become an artist when I was 2 years old. I taught myself to paint digitally with a mouse in GIMP in 2008, at the age of 14. Since then, digital painting has become my medium of choice. I attended Massachusetts College of Art and Design for a BFA in Illustration, and am the author and illustrator of children's books Henry and the Jackalope and Waverly and the Flowers.

I have exhibited artwork in several spaces across Massachusetts, including the Frances Euphemia Thompson Gallery in Boston, Artspace Gallery in Greenfield, and Symphony Hall in Boston in collaboration with the Handel + Haydn Society. I have also featured illustrations in several publications including Bay State Parent and Mass Art's Center of Vision. Other freelance clients include Columbia College Today, Half Price Books, and Harmonix.

My professional experience in the art world includes work at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, at Solace Studio and Gallery in Boston's Design Center, and the position of Art Director at Star Island Corporation in Portsmouth, NH.

My complete resume is available upon request.
